Computers and Structures, Inc. (CSI) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have generously made funds available to award participation grants to students, early career members, emergency managers and planners, state and local government representatives, and those who submit high-quality applications with demonstrated need to help defray costs of attending the 13NCEE taking place July 13-17, 2026 in Portland, Oregon.
The participation grant application is expected to open this October. Keep an eye out for the announcement!
These grants are being coordinated by the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI). EERI thanks CSI and FEMA for generously funding these grants!
Ashraf’s 13NCEE Participation Grants
The CEO and founder of Computers and Structures, Inc. (CSI), Ashraf Habibullah, is offering participation grants to expand opportunities for early career EERI members to attend, present, and participate in the 13NCEE. Ashraf and CSI are committed to expanding opportunities for students and professionals who are early in their career so they can grow their professional networks, leverage essential learning opportunities, and foster their career development.
Ashraf’s 13NCEE Participation Grants will provide a registration grant and/or two nights of hotel support for early career attendees and individuals. Approximately 50 grants will be awarded.
EERI thanks CSI for generously funding these grants!
FEMA 13NCEE Participation Grants
The United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has provided a grant to EERI to support the professional development of members in the seismic community through their attendance at the 13NCEE.
FEMA 13NCEE Participation Grants will offset registration costs, and some hotel and travel costs, for emergency managers and planners, state and local government representatives, and those who submit high-quality applications with demonstrated need. Approximately 20 grants will be awarded.
These grants will support the goals of the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) by providing early career professionals, state and local government representatives, and emergency managers with learning opportunities that help them to contribute to the nation’s resilience by implementing lessons learned from earthquakes to improve building, lifeline, and social systems in the US; applying new knowledge that improves their academic research or technical practice; and advocating for seismic safety policy based on cutting edge research learned at the event.
EERI thanks FEMA for generously funding these grants!
